Collier County Sheriff's Office questioned and released the man
COLLIER COUNTY- Military aircraft were scrambled by the Department of Homeland Security to escort a plane to the ground at the Dade-Collier Training and Transition Airport.
The FAA said there was some kind of incident with a man trying to buy a Cessna 425 in Brooksville, Florida.
The FAA says the man took off in the plane for a test flight around 2:45 p.m. and never came back, which prompted DHS to get involved.
While in flight, he refused to talk to air traffic controllers. About 45 minutes and 300 miles later, two F-15 fighter jets forced the pilot to land at the Dade-Collier Training and Transition Airport.
Officials with the FAA said that deputies with the Collier County Sheriff's Office questioned and released the man who was in control of the plane. They said he was released because they did not have enough evidence to charge him with theft.
